Into the Twilight
Yesterday I played my first ever game of Twilight Imperium and i’m hooked.
Mr Ford, Peter Lyle, Hovo, Thomas and myself battled it out from 11 till 9 with Peter Lyle eventually winning, narrowly edging out Hovo.
I really, really, really enjoyed this game, the subtleties in rules and the alliances being made and broken phase by phase make it the most fun I’d had in weeks.
The highlights had to be Mr Ford coming to my rescue by crushing Hovo’s fleets with his War Suns, only to be pushed back to his base by the combined efforts of Peter Lyle and Thomas. Myself finally getting the tech for advanced fighters and annihilating Hovo’s huge fleet, 2 War Suns, 3 Dreadnaughts and a bunch of Battlestars against 18 fighters and then having Peter Lyle attack the fighters and losing another huge fleet for a grand total of only 2 of my fighters dying. The political decision which crippled Peter Lyle for half the game and the voting, oh the voting is so much fun. I only wish we’d gotten to play another round or two.
I recommend that if you get the chance to play it do, until I get to play again, i’ll tide myself over with reading the rulebook.
